Sandhills Crane Viewing or Hunting Lodging at its Finest!
KEARNEY, NEBRASKA
Our thanks to our 2009 guests! They were great!! Looking forward to those who visit us in 2010.
Newer, one bedroom, fully equipped cabin, with loft and two sofa-sleepers. Fullsize bath, frig, stovetop, convection microwave, and flatscreen t.v. Linens, towels, and coffeemaker (and coffee!), dishes, pots & pans provided. Great little back porch for a quiet sit, outdoor patio table and four chairs make a comfy picnic spot.
The cabin sits right on a farm pond stocked with large-mouth bass, sunfish, catfish, and carp. As much "Catch and release" fishing as you want. Great private 1/4 mile walking trail to the Platte river through grasslands and wooded area. Peaceful and secluded, but other homes in the immediate area.
Bring a camera as deer and turkey love this place and its right in the middle of sandhill crane viewing! Bird watching in general can be rewarding, too, with bald eagles in the spring, blue heron on the pond, geese overhead, and many songbirds. Bring your DVD's and CD's, too, because the cabin has surround sound and its great! And, there is even satellite TV (we don't want you to rough-it too much!). We hate to say 'no' to pets, so if yours is small and/or well behaved they are more than welcomed. A pet deposit will be requested after arrival and can simply be charge card info. No smoking, please.
Upon departure, you need not do anything with the linens or the trash or cleaning; except we ask that you do wash up and put away any dishes or pots & pans that you used. We'll take care of the rest! ...and we ask that you clean the grill if you used it...
THERE IS A TWO NIGHT MINIMUM ON WEEKENDS (Fri/Sat evenings). We have adopted this policy because the majority of our guests are looking for a two night stay and when we sell a single Friday or Saturday night, we loose vital business. We simply could not have the cabin available if we rented it only four nights per month due to single night purchases on the weekend. We appreciate your understanding. [Week nights - Mon, Tue, Wed, Thur. -- can be purchased for single nights.]
Very conveniently located; just 3 miles south of Interstate 80 in the center of Nebraska, and just 7 miles to gas, groceries, and shopping. The cabin is approx. 11.5' wide, 48' long, and stands 16' tall.
After purchase, Seller will email buyer and make arrangements for arrival time. Upon arrival, you will be asked to provide your Country-Adventures Pass/Receipt as proof of purchase, so print it out and bring it with you. Thanks.
Price includes: one night's rental for up to four occupants, catch and release fishing, walking trail, plus all applicable taxes and fees.
If your party is for more than four guests, please CLICK HERE and you will be provided the information required to pay for the additional guests. We charge $10 per night per person over four.
Email us if you have any questions.
** We close the cabin from November 1 through February 28. We haven't the means of removing snow so as to get you in and out of the cabin, plus the utility bill goes up while the number of guests go down. Again, we ask for your understanding.

I was looking for a quiet, secluded spot where I could recharge my batteries before the start of another school year. Boy, did I find it. The cabin was perfect.

Wonderful little cabin near the Platte, March 24, 2009
By Betsy H. (Denver, Colorado) We really loved this little cabin. It is very peaceful, right on a pond, and has a trail to a pretty bench on the Platte River. We could hear sandhill cranes all day and night and enjoyed the geese on the pond as well. The cabin is very clean and new. I suppose a really big man might find it a little claustrophobic, especially in the bathroom, but that did not bother us two women. It sleeps six, but remember that there is only one small bathroom. The kitchen was equipped with everything we needed. We definitely look forward to returning to this nice place. |
